About
The Stargirl is Amy C. Fredericks, an astronomer and web designer who lives in Maryland. I received my masters in astronomy from the University of Maryland in 1999. I have been hand-coding html for nearly 10 years. I started out self-taught in web design and computer programming but have since taken many courses online and at Harvard Extension and NYU. My interests beyond web design include photography, hiking, and travel writing.
I was born in California and my childhood saw my family living in such diverse places as Guam, Spain, and Florida. But mostly I grew up in Maryland, outside of Washington, D.C. Work has led me to live in Hawaii, Boston, and New York City. In 2005 I returned home.
Currently I am a civilian astronomer at the U.S. Naval Observatory.
